(a) The Board of Behavioral Sciences shall require an applicant for licensure as an educational psychologist, as defined in Sections 4989.14 and 4989.20, to undergo a fingerprint-based state and national criminal history background check, pursuant to Section 144.

(b) The board shall submit to the Department of Justice fingerprint images and related information for individuals specified in subdivision (a) who are subject to a state and national criminal history background check, pursuant to subdivision (u) of Section 11105 of the Penal Code. The Department of Justice shall provide a state- and federal-level response pursuant to subdivision (p) of Section 11105 of the Penal Code.

Requires the Board of Behavioral Sciences to subject educational-psychologist licensure applicants covered by the cited provisions to fingerprint-based state and national criminal-history background checks. Requires the board to send fingerprint images and related information to the Department of Justice, which must provide state- and federal-level responses under the cited Penal Code provisions.
