California Codes, Civil Code - CIV, Preliminary Provisions, Section 2

This Code takes effect at twelve o'clock noon, on the first day of January, eighteen hundred and seventy-three.

Notes

Sets the code's effective date at twelve o'clock noon on January 1, 1873. Fixes only that starting moment and carries no other rule, so it governs when the code's provisions began to operate rather than what any of them require.
