The burden of an obligation may be transferred with the consent of the party entitled to its benefit, but not otherwise, except as provided by Section 1466.

Notes

Allows the burden of an obligation to be transferred only with the consent of the party entitled to the obligation’s benefit. The rule bars transfer of that burden without the beneficiary’s consent, except as otherwise provided by the specified statutory provision.
