California Codes, Code of Civil Procedure - CCP, Part 2 — Of Civil Actions, Title 8 — Of the Trial and Judgment in Civil Actions, Chapter 2 — Judgment Upon Failure to Answer, Section 587.5
As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise specifically requires, the following terms apply:
(a) “Complaint” includes a cross-complaint.
(b) “Defendant” includes a cross-defendant.
(c) “Plaintiff” includes a cross-complainant.
Notes
Defines “complaint” to include a cross-complaint, “defendant” to include a cross-defendant, and “plaintiff” to include a cross-complainant for purposes of the chapter, unless the context specifically requires otherwise. These expanded meanings apply throughout the chapter rather than only to ordinary complaints and parties.
