California Codes, Code of Civil Procedure - CCP, Part 2 — Of Civil Actions, Title 10 — Actions in Particular Cases, Chapter 4 — Quiet Title, Article 3 — Defendants, Section 762.050

Any person who has a claim to the property described in the complaint may appear in the proceeding. Whether or not the person is named as a defendant in the complaint, the person shall appear as a defendant.

Notes

Allows any person claiming an interest in the property described in the complaint to appear in the proceeding. A claimant who appears does so as a defendant whether or not the plaintiff originally named that person as a defendant in the complaint, so omission from the pleading does not bar appearance to assert the claim.
