California Codes, Code of Civil Procedure - CCP, Part 2 — Of Civil Actions, Title 10 — Actions in Particular Cases, Chapter 1 — Actions for the Foreclosure of Mortgages, Section 729.030

The redemption period during which property may be redeemed from a foreclosure sale under this chapter ends:

(a) Three months after the date of sale if the proceeds of the sale are sufficient to satisfy the secured indebtedness with interest and costs of action and of sale.

(b) One year after the date of sale if the proceeds of the sale are not sufficient to satisfy the secured indebtedness with interest and costs of action and of sale.

Notes

Sets the foreclosure-sale redemption period at three months after sale when the sale proceeds are sufficient to satisfy the secured indebtedness plus interest and action and sale costs. If the proceeds are insufficient to satisfy those amounts, the redemption period instead ends one year after the sale date.
