California Codes, Code of Civil Procedure - CCP, Part 2 — Of Civil Actions, Title 10.5 — Partition of Real and Personal Property, Chapter 4 — Referees, Article 2 — Contracts of Referee, Section 873.110
Subject to the limitations of this article, the court may:
(a) Authorize or approve contracts of the referee for the services and expenses of surveyors, engineers, appraisers, attorneys, real estate brokers, auctioneers, and others.
(b) Allow and direct payment of or reject claims under such contracts.
(c) Provide for the date of commencement of any lien provided by law or contract for such claims.
Notes
Allows the court, subject to the article’s limitations, to authorize or approve a referee’s contracts for surveyors, engineers, appraisers, attorneys, real estate brokers, auctioneers, and other services and expenses. The court may allow and direct payment or reject claims under those contracts and may set the commencement date of any lien securing such claims.
