California Codes, Civil Code - CIV, Division 3 — Obligations, Part 4 — Obligations Arising from Particular Transactions, Title 1.7 — Consumer Warranties, Chapter 5 — Home Roof Warranties, Section 1797.93
If any warranty subject to this chapter, uses the term “lifetime,” “life,” or a similar representation to describe the duration of the warranty, then the warranty shall disclose with such clarity and prominence as will be noticed and understood by prospective purchasers, the life to which the representation refers.
Notes
Requires any covered warranty using “lifetime,” “life,” or similar wording to describe its duration to disclose clearly and prominently which life the representation refers to. The disclosure must be presented with enough clarity and prominence to be noticed and understood by prospective purchasers, so the stated duration identifies the life used to measure the warranty.
