California Codes, Civil Code - CIV, Division 3 — Obligations, Part 4 — Obligations Arising from Particular Transactions, Title 1.7 — Consumer Warranties, Chapter 1 — Consumer Warranty Protection, Article 3 — Sale Warranties, Section 1793.01

A manufacturer, distributor, or retail seller shall not make an express warranty with respect to a consumer good that commences earlier than the date of delivery of the good. This section does not limit an express warranty made before July 1, 2023.

Notes

Prohibits a manufacturer, distributor, or retail seller from making an express warranty for a consumer good that commences before the good is delivered. Exempts express warranties made before July 1, 2023 from this limitation, so the delivery-date commencement rule does not limit those earlier warranties.
