California Codes, Civil Code - CIV, Division 4 — General Provisions, Part 6 — Works of Improvement, Title 3 — Public Work of Improvement, Chapter 3 — Preliminary Notice, Section 9304

A claimant may give a stop payment notice or assert a claim against a payment bond only for work provided within 20 days before giving preliminary notice and at any time thereafter.

Notes

Limits a claimant’s stop-payment-notice and payment-bond rights to work provided within 20 days before the claimant gives preliminary notice and to work provided at any time after that notice. The 20-day lookback therefore defines the earliest covered work for those remedies.
