California Codes, Civil Code - CIV, Division 4 — General Provisions, Part 1 — Relief, Title 3 — Specific and Preventive Relief, Chapter 3 — Preventive Relief, Section 3422

Except where otherwise provided by this Title, a final injunction may be granted to prevent the breach of an obligation existing in favor of the applicant:

1. Where pecuniary compensation would not afford adequate relief;

2. Where it would be extremely difficult to ascertain the amount of compensation which would afford adequate relief;

3. Where the restraint is necessary to prevent a multiplicity of judicial proceedings; or,

4. Where the obligation arises from a trust.

Notes

Allows a final injunction, except where the title provides otherwise, to prevent breach of an obligation owed to the applicant when money damages are inadequate, very difficult to calculate, restraint is needed to avoid multiple lawsuits, or the obligation arises from a trust. Any one of the listed grounds can support final injunctive relief.
