California Codes, Civil Code - CIV, Division 4 — General Provisions, Part 1 — Relief, Title 4 — Uniform Single Publication Act, Section 3425.4
A judgment in any jurisdiction for or against the plaintiff upon the substantive merits of any action for damages founded upon a single publication or exhibition or utterance as described in Section 3425.3 shall bar any other action for damages by the same plaintiff against the same defendant founded upon the same publication or exhibition or utterance.
Notes
Bars a plaintiff from bringing another damages action against the same defendant based on the same single publication, exhibition, or utterance after a judgment on the substantive merits for or against that plaintiff in any jurisdiction. The bar applies to the same underlying communication regardless of where the later action would otherwise be filed.
