California Codes, Civil Code - CIV, Division 4 — General Provisions, Part 6 — Works of Improvement, Title 3 — Public Work of Improvement, Chapter 2 — Completion, Section 9200
For the purpose of this title, completion of a work of improvement occurs at the earliest of the following times:
(a) Acceptance of the work of improvement by the public entity.
(b) Cessation of labor on the work of improvement for a continuous period of 60 days. This subdivision does not apply to a contract awarded under the State Contract Act, Part 2 (commencing with Section 10100) of Division 2 of the Public Contract Code.
Notes
Defines completion of a public-entity work of improvement as the earlier of public-entity acceptance or 60 continuous days of labor cessation. Exempts contracts awarded under the State Contract Act from the 60-day cessation rule, so that alternative completion trigger does not apply to those contracts.
