California Codes, Business and Professions Code - BPC, Division 8 — Special Business Regulations, Chapter 32 — Consumer Protection Against Computer Spyware Act, Section 22947.5

It is the intent of the Legislature that this chapter is a matter of statewide concern. This chapter supersedes and preempts all rules, regulations, codes, ordinances, and other laws adopted by a city, county, city and county, municipality, or local agency regarding spyware and notices to consumers from computer software providers regarding information collection.

Notes

Establishes the Legislature’s intent that the chapter addresses a matter of statewide concern and preempts local laws concerning spyware and consumer notices from computer-software providers about information collection. Bars cities, counties, municipalities, and other local agencies from maintaining separate rules, regulations, codes, ordinances, or laws on those subjects because the chapter supersedes them.
