As used in this article, “sale” shall include a gift made with the hope or expectation of monetary compensation.

Defines “sale” for this article to include a gift made with the hope or expectation of monetary compensation. A transfer framed as a gift therefore counts as a sale under the article when it is made with that hope or expectation of receiving monetary compensation.
