California CodesBusiness and Professions Code - BPCDivision 7 — General Business RegulationsPart 1 — Licensing for Revenue and RegulationChapter 2 — Licensing by CountiesSection 16101

The boards of supervisors in their respective counties may for the purpose of revenue license individuals acting as hawkers, itinerant peddlers or itinerant vendors, other than merchants having a fixed place of business in the county, their employees, and farmers selling farm products produced by them.

Notes

Allows county boards of supervisors, for revenue purposes, to license individuals acting as hawkers, itinerant peddlers, or itinerant vendors. Exempts merchants with a fixed place of business in the county, their employees, and farmers selling farm products they produced, so the county revenue-licensing authority targets itinerant sellers outside those listed categories.
