California Codes, Business and Professions Code - BPC, Division 3 — Professions and Vocations Generally, Chapter 20 — Electronic and Appliance Repair Dealers, Article 4.5 — Service Contractors, Section 9855.1
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to act as a service contractor in this state unless that person first registers with the bureau in accordance with the provisions of this chapter and maintains a valid registration.
(b) Except as expressly provided in this chapter, service contractors registered in accordance with the provisions of this chapter shall be exempt from all provisions of the Insurance Code.
Notes
Prohibits any person from acting as a service contractor in this state without first registering with the bureau under the chapter and maintaining a valid registration. Exempts service contractors properly registered under the chapter from all Insurance Code provisions except those the chapter expressly makes applicable.
