California Codes, Business and Professions Code - BPC, Division 6 — Business Rights, Chapter 3 — Trade Names and Designations, Article 3 — Farm Names, Section 14464

When any name has been registered as the name of any farm, that name shall not be registered as the name of any other farm in this State, unless designating words have been prefixed or added thereto. The Secretary of State shall register such name only for the person entitled thereto.

Notes

Prohibits registration of a farm name already registered for another California farm unless designating words are prefixed or added to distinguish it. The Secretary of State may register the name only for the person entitled to it, so an identical previously registered farm name cannot be registered for another farm without added distinguishing wording.
