California Codes, Code of Civil Procedure - CCP, Part 2 — Of Civil Actions, Title 9 — Enforcement of Judgments, Division 4 — Third-party Claims and Related Procedures, Chapter 1 — Definitions, Section 720.020

“Creditor” means the judgment creditor or, in the case of a levy under a writ of attachment or prejudgment writ of possession of personal property, the plaintiff.

Notes

Defines “creditor” for the article as the judgment creditor, except when the levy is made under a writ of attachment or a prejudgment writ of possession of personal property. In those two prejudgment levy settings, the term “creditor” means the plaintiff rather than a judgment creditor.
