California Codes, Code of Civil Procedure - CCP, Part 2 — Of Civil Actions, Title 9 — Enforcement of Judgments, Division 4 — Third-party Claims and Related Procedures, Chapter 1 — Definitions, Section 720.030

“Debtor” means the judgment debtor or, in the case of a levy under a writ of attachment or prejudgment writ of possession of personal property, the defendant.

Notes

Defines debtor to mean the judgment debtor for purposes of the division, while expanding the term in specified prejudgment proceedings. For a levy under a writ of attachment or a prejudgment writ of possession of personal property, debtor instead includes the defendant identified in that proceeding.
