An individual or firm, that is licensed by the Department of Insurance pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 1621), Chapter 6 (commencing with Section 1760), or Chapter 8 (commencing with Section 1831) of Part 2 of Division 1 of the Insurance Code, does not commit a crime under California law solely for providing insurance or related services to persons licensed to engage in commercial cannabis activity pursuant to this division.

Notes

Exempts individuals or firms licensed under the specified California insurance provisions from criminal liability under California law solely for providing insurance or related services to persons licensed to conduct commercial cannabis activity. Limits the protection to liability arising solely from serving licensed cannabis businesses and does not excuse other unlawful conduct.
