California CodesBusiness and Professions Code - BPCDivision 2 — Healing ArtsChapter 11 — Veterinary MedicineArticle 1 — AdministrationSection 4800.1

Protection of the public shall be the highest priority for the California Veterinary Medical Board in exercising its licensing, regulatory, and disciplinary functions. Whenever the protection of the public is inconsistent with other interests sought to be promoted, the protection of the public shall be paramount.

Notes

Establishes protection of the public as the California Veterinary Medical Board's highest priority when performing licensing, regulatory, and disciplinary functions. Whenever public protection conflicts with other interests the board seeks to promote, public protection must be paramount, directing the board to give that interest precedence across those stated functions rather than balancing it equally with competing interests.
