An order by a physician, dentist, or podiatrist for anesthesia services for a specific patient shall be the authorization for the nurse anesthetist to select and implement the modality of anesthesia for the patient and to abort or modify the modality of anesthesia for the patient during the course of care.
Notes
Allows a nurse anesthetist, when a physician, dentist, or podiatrist orders anesthesia services for a specific patient, to select and implement the anesthesia modality for that patient. Allows the nurse anesthetist during the course of care to abort or modify the selected anesthesia modality under the authorization created by that patient-specific order.
