No prescription for any dangerous drug or dangerous device may be refilled except upon authorization of the prescriber. The authorization may be given orally or at the time of giving the original prescription. No prescription for any dangerous drug that is a controlled substance may be designated refillable as needed.

Notes

Prohibits refilling a prescription for a dangerous drug or dangerous device without authorization from the prescriber. The prescriber may give refill authorization orally or when issuing the original prescription, but a prescription for a dangerous drug that is a controlled substance may not be designated refillable on an as-needed basis.
