(a) A license that is not renewed within five years after its expiration shall not be renewed, restored, reissued, or reinstated. After five years after expiration, the holder of a license may apply for and obtain a new license subject to the following:
(1) He or she has not committed any acts or crimes constituting grounds for denial of licensure under Section 480.
(2) He or she takes and passes the examination, if any, that would be required if applying for the license for the first time.
(b) The board may, by regulation, provide for the waiver or refund of all or any part of the application fee in those cases in which a license is issued without an examination pursuant to this section.
Notes
Bars renewal, restoration, reissuance, or reinstatement of a license not renewed within five years after expiration. Allows the former holder after five years to obtain a new license if no Section 480 denial grounds exist and any initial examination is passed; the board may by regulation waive or refund application fees when a license issues without an examination.
