No information obtained under this article, or under Title 4 (commencing with Section 2016.010) of Part 4 of the Code of Civil Procedure, may be used against any party, or any witness, as a basis for a misdemeanor or felony prosecution in any court of this state.

Notes

Prohibits information obtained under the article or the referenced civil discovery provisions from being used against any party or witness as the basis for a misdemeanor or felony prosecution in a California court. The protection applies to information obtained through either stated source and bars its use as the prosecutorial basis described.
