California Codes, Business and Professions Code - BPC, Division 7 — General Business Regulations, Part 3 — Representations to the Public, Chapter 5 — Fictitious Business Names, Section 17911

This chapter does not apply to a nonprofit corporation or association, including, but not limited to, organizations such as churches, labor unions, fraternal and charitable organizations, foundations, and similar organizations.

Notes

Exempts nonprofit corporations and associations from the chapter, including churches, labor unions, fraternal and charitable organizations, foundations, and similar organizations. Those nonprofit entities fall entirely outside the chapter’s application, so they are not subject to its fictitious-business-name obligations merely because they operate under an organizational name.
