“Article” means any article of merchandise, and includes each and every portion of any such article whether or not such portion is separable or is a distinct part thereof.

Defines “article” to mean any article of merchandise and expressly includes every portion of such an article, whether or not the portion is separable or constitutes a distinct part. The definition therefore treats both a complete item of merchandise and each of its portions as an article for chapter purposes.
