California CodesBusiness and Professions Code - BPCDivision 8 — Special Business RegulationsChapter 22 — Internet Privacy RequirementsSection 22578

It is the intent of the Legislature that this chapter is a matter of statewide concern. This chapter supersedes and preempts all rules, regulations, codes, ordinances, and other laws adopted by a city, county, city and county, municipality, or local agency regarding the posting of a privacy policy on an Internet Web site.

Notes

Establishes the Legislature’s intent that the chapter addresses a matter of statewide concern and preempts local rules on posting Internet website privacy policies. Bars cities, counties, municipalities, and other local agencies from maintaining separate rules, regulations, codes, ordinances, or other laws concerning that privacy-policy posting subject because the chapter supersedes them.
