California Codes, Business and Professions Code - BPC, General Provisions, Section 4

No action or proceeding commenced before this code takes effect, and no right accrued, is affected by the provisions of this code, but all procedure thereafter taken therein shall conform to the provisions of this code so far as possible.

Notes

Establishes that the code does not affect actions or proceedings begun before its effective date or rights that had already accrued. Requires later procedure in those existing matters to conform to the code as far as possible, preserving substantive pre-code rights while applying new procedural rules where practicable.
