California Codes, Civil Code - CIV, Division 3 — Obligations, Part 2 — Contracts, Title 1 — Nature of a Contract, Chapter 5 — Consideration, Section 1607

The consideration of a contract must be lawful within the meaning of Section 1667.

Notes

Requires the consideration supporting a contract to be lawful within the meaning of the specified statutory provision. Contract consideration therefore must satisfy the separate rule defining unlawful matters, and consideration falling within that prohibition does not meet this statutory requirement for a valid contract.
