California Codes, Civil Code - CIV, Division 3 — Obligations, Part 4 — Obligations Arising from Particular Transactions, Title 1.8 — Personal Data, Chapter 1 — Information Practices Act of 1977, Article 12 — Construction With Other Laws, Section 1798.76
Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to revoke, modify, or alter in any manner any statutory provision or any judicial decision which (a) authorizes an individual to gain access to any law enforcement record, or (b) authorizes discovery in criminal or civil litigation.
Notes
Bars the chapter from revoking, modifying, or altering any statute or judicial decision that authorizes an individual to access a law-enforcement record or authorizes discovery in criminal or civil litigation. Preserves those separate access and discovery authorities by preventing the chapter from being construed to displace or narrow them.
