A submetering system that measures only a portion of a dwelling unit’s water usage, including, but not limited to, a system that measures only hot water usage, shall not be subject to this chapter if the system was first put in service before January 1, 2018.

Exempts a partial-use submetering system, including one measuring only hot-water usage, from the submetering chapter when the system was first placed in service before January 1, 2018. The exemption applies specifically to systems measuring only part of a dwelling unit's water usage and meeting that pre-2018 service date.
