California Codes, Code of Civil Procedure - CCP, Part 2 — Of Civil Actions, Title 10 — Actions in Particular Cases, Chapter 4 — Quiet Title, Article 4 — Service of Process, Section 763.040

Whenever the court orders service by publication, the court before hearing the case shall require proof that the summons has been served, posted, published as required, and that the notice of pendency of action has been filed.

Notes

Requires the court, whenever it ordered service by publication, to obtain proof before hearing the case that the summons was served, posted, and published as required and that the notice of pendency of the action was properly filed with the court.
