California Codes, Code of Civil Procedure - CCP, Part 2 — Of Civil Actions, Title 8 — Of the Trial and Judgment in Civil Actions, Chapter 5 — Trial by the Court, Section 631.7

Ordinarily, unless the court otherwise directs, the trial of a civil action tried by the court without a jury shall proceed in the order specified in Section 607.

Notes

Sets the ordinary sequence for a civil bench trial by requiring it to proceed in the order specified in the referenced trial-order provision. The court may direct a different order, so the referenced sequence is the default rather than an inflexible requirement.
