California Codes, Code of Civil Procedure - CCP, Part 2 — Of Civil Actions, Title 9 — Enforcement of Judgments, Division 2 — Enforcement of Money Judgments, Chapter 2 — Liens, Article 4 — Execution Lien, Section 697.720

Subject to Section 701.630, if an interest in real property subject to an execution lien is transferred or encumbered, the interest transferred or encumbered remains subject to the lien after the transfer or encumbrance.

Notes

Subject to the referenced statutory exception, the transferred or encumbered interest remains burdened by the existing execution lien rather than becoming free of it because ownership or encumbrances changed.
