California Codes, Code of Civil Procedure - CCP, Part 2 — Of Civil Actions, Title 9 — Enforcement of Judgments, Division 2 — Enforcement of Money Judgments, Chapter 4 — Exemptions, Article 3 — Exempt Property, Section 704.225

Money in a judgment debtor’s deposit account that is not otherwise exempt under this chapter is exempt to the extent necessary for the support of the judgment debtor and the spouse and dependents of the judgment debtor.

Notes

Exempts money in a judgment debtor's deposit account that is not otherwise exempt under the chapter, but only to the extent necessary to support the judgment debtor and the debtor's spouse and dependents. The protection therefore applies as a needs-based exemption to otherwise nonexempt deposit funds rather than a fixed dollar amount.
