A bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law impairing the obligation of contracts may not be passed.

Notes

Prohibits enactment of any bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law impairing contractual obligations. The restriction applies separately to each of those three prohibited forms of legislation and bars their passage rather than prescribing a remedy after enactment.
