Congressional Compensation

No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.

Notes

Bars any law varying the compensation for the services of Senators and Representatives from taking effect until an election of Representatives has intervened. A change in congressional pay, whether an increase or a decrease, can apply only after the next House election has taken place.
