California CodesBusiness and Professions Code - BPCDivision 2 — Healing ArtsChapter 6.6 — PsychologistsArticle 1 — General ProvisionsSection 2904

The practice of psychology shall not include prescribing drugs, performing surgery or administering electroconvulsive therapy.

Notes

Prohibits the practice of psychology from including prescribing drugs, performing surgery, or administering electroconvulsive therapy. Limits the statutory scope of psychology by expressly excluding those three activities, so a person practicing psychology under the chapter does not receive authority through that practice to prescribe medication, operate surgically, or administer electroconvulsive treatment.
